Ocala Police unveiled on Wednesday its new patrol car designed by four of its officers.
The department asked the public to vote on four designs -- all created by Ocala police officers. "Design #857" -- created by Officer Mark Crandall and Officer Jimmy Pitman -- won the contest with 685 votes. The second place design was just seven votes behind.
Since the voting was so close, police chief Greg Graham decided to ask both Pitman and Crandall to team up with the second place officers to create a new car based off the first and second place design.
Sergeant Angy Scroble and Officer Patti Mraz came in second with 678 votes.
"[The contest] was a lot of fun and we are going to end up with a design that we are all going to be proud of," said chief Graham.
