LEESBURG, Fla. -

Leesburg police say a shooting victim walked to a stranger's home to call 911 after someone shot him early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened while the victim was walking in the area of Beecher Street and Johns Avenue at around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

Officers tell Local 6 the victim was shot in the upper torso and ran to a house on Talladega Street -- about one block away -- to call 911.

The victim was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Officers didn't immediately know the man's condition.

Leesburg police said officers were searching the neighborhood and questioning people who live nearby. Police didn't immediately have a description of the shooter.
