ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -

An Orange County deputy has been arrested on Friday on charges of scheming to defraud and false and fraudulent insurance claims.

Deputy Waleed Albakri, 42, was arrested by OCSO Professional Standards investigators Friday after an investigation was launched into the allegations. It's not clear what exactly the allegations against Albakri were.

According to an OCSO release, Albakri has been suspended without pay and doesn't have any law enforcement authority, pending the outcome of an internal review of the arrest.

Albakri joined the Sheriff’s Office in March 2008 and was assigned to investigative duties. He has been booked into the Orange County Jail on the felony charges with $3,500 bond.
