ORLANDO, Fla. -

The mother of a murder suspect will spend the next 51 weeks behind bars after pleading guilty on Thursday to bribery.

Cynthia Ruffin-Sinclair pleaded guilty of trying to bribe victims in her son's murder case.

Prosecutors accused Sinclair and her son, Bessman Okafor, of trying to get witnesses in his home invasion case to stop talking to authorities.

Okafor is accused of killing one of the witnesses, Alex Zaldivar, after the bribe attempts failed. Zaldivar, 19, was killed in the shootings at the home on Bernadino Drive south of Orlando Avenue in Ocoee back in September.

Deputies said Zaldivar and his roommates, Remington Campos 23, and Brienna Campos 20, was set to testify against Okafor before Zaldivar died.

Okafor still faces murder charges.
