Orange County Comptroller Martha Hayne announced Monday that resort tax collections were up roughly 8 percent in October 2012 compared to the same period last year.
The revenue represents tourist taxes charged on so called short- term rentals which represent mostly hotels and motels.
In terms of hard numbers, Hayne says the $14,675,400 is up $1,035,600 or 7.6 percent from October 2011.
She views the extra revenue as a promising economic profile.
āIām happy to report that the 2013 fiscal year is off to a strong start,ā Hayne said
