12 seniors from Winter Park High School are among 29 Orange County students recognized as semifinalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
The students were among 1.5 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools who took the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The seniors now have a chance to for roughly 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered in the spring. To advance as a finalist, the semifinalists and their high school must submit a detailed scholarship application proving academic abilities throughout high school.
Finalist names will begin being released in April 2013.
