Orlando Predators guarantee winning season
Season ticket holders could be reimbursed if Predators don't win 10 games
The Orlando Predators have decided that losing is unacceptable -- and they're willing to put their money where there mouth is.
For the first time in professional sports history, the team is making a guarantee to season ticket holders that they will produce a winning season.
Playing an 18-game schedule, 10 wins will guarantee a winning season. If the Predators fail to win at least 10 games in each season, the team will give season ticket holders a purchase credit.
“Professional sports teams should be held accountable to a minimum standard of on-field performance, " said Brett Bouchy, managing partner of the Orlando Predators. "Our goal is to revolutionize the sports business industry by making this the new standard. As consumers, we demand a certain amount of service and/or quality in every purchase, why should the sports industry be any different?”
Credits would start at 10 percent for a 9-9 season and increase by 10 percent per ticket with each additional game below .500.
The Predators had only the second losing season in their 21-year history in 2012, going 4-14. It was also the only the second time in franchise history they did not qualify for the AFL playoffs.
The team says it reserves the right to modify or cancel the pledge following the 2014 season.
