Orlando theme parks forced to close because of too many guests
Guests and tourists flocked to Orlando theme parks on Wednesday, forcing officials to close some of the parks because they have reached capacity.
Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando and Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World had been temporarily closed earlier in the day.
Islands of Adventure has extended its closing time from 11 p.m. to midnight. Local 6 helicopter Sky 6 showed video of cars backed up outside a Universal Orlando entrance.
Legoland Florida in Winter Haven, which opened in October and targets children ages 2 to 12, also reached capacity Wednesday, officials said.
"Florida's newest theme park has reached capacity," the park posted on Twitter. "@LEGOLANDFlorida is no longer admitting guests (12/28/11). Tomorrow, opening at 9:30am."
Blizzard Beach, a Disney water park, did not open Wednesday because of cool weather. High temperatures in Orlando reached the 60s but it was a brisk morning in Central Florida.
SeaWorld's water park, Aquatica, and Wet N Wild were open.
During peak times, such as holidays and Spring Break, it's not uncommon for some of the parks to temporarily close because of attendance.
