Osceola deputies: Mom leaves son alone in motel to go to movies
Mother says 7-year-old didn't want to see scary movie, deputies say
Osceola County sheriff's deputies say a woman left her 7-year-old son alone in a motel room scattered with open beer cans to go to the movies with her boyfriend.
Deputies said they were responding to a 911 disconnect call at the Rodeway Inn at 4559 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway on Saturday night when they found the boy alone with several open beer cans within reach.
Deputies contacted his mother, 29-year-old Natalie Figueroa, who said she went to the movies with her boyfriend and left her son at the motel because he did not want to see a scary movie.
She said she thought her boyfriend's brother was watching her son.
When Figueroa and her boyfriend returned to the motel, she was arrested and charged with child neglect.
