PALM BAY, Fla. -

Palm Bay police suspect a driver suffered a medical issue, leading him to crash into three vehicles and kill one person Wednesday morning.

The wreck occurred at Palm Bay Road and Babcock Street about 10 a.m.

Police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said a Ford F-250 went out of control while driving west on Palm Bay Road just west of the intersection. The truck hit several vehicles and crossed into eastbound lanes before it hit a Dodge Intrepid headed west, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

The Dodge rolled into a ditch on the north side of the road and the driver was killed, police said.

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Westbound lanes of Palm Bay Road remain closed.

Laurie Taylor was driving through the area when she heard the wreck.

"Oh my God, it sounded like an explosion -- boom, boom, boom,"she said.

She leaned against the hood of her Lexus outside a Staples store and watched as a tow truck pulled the smashed vehicle from the ditch.

"I'm going to be here praying for him," she said.
