Parents of George Zimmerman launch website
Zimmerman charged with murder in death of Trayvon Martin
The parents of George Zimmerman, who's charged with murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, have launched a website in an effort to raise money.
Robert and Gladys Zimmerman have created robertandgladys.com, making a plea for emotional and financial support because, they say, they've had to move from place to place due to death threats.
On the site, Robert Zimmerman wrote, "Nothing can ever return us to the family we were just a few short months ago. What Gladys and I have planned and worked for our entire life now will never be."
Robert Zimmerman also says that he stands by his son, who shot and killed Martin, who was unarmed, in February in a gated Sanford community.
George Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense. He was not arrested for 44 days because police said there was not enough evidence in the case. The lack of an arrest prompted protests and marches in Sanford and across the country.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott appointed a special prosecutor in the case, and George Zimmerman was later arrested on second-degree murder charges.
He has since twice bonded out of jail, most recently on a $1 million bond. George Zimmerman is currently living in a safe house in Seminole County.
George Zimmerman has requested that the judge in his case, Kenneth Lester, step down, and a ruling is expected soon.
