Parents of girl in fight video speak out
An 11-year-old's parents are speaking out against the mother who police said battered their child, and encouraged her own daughter to fight.
The victim's step-father, who asked not to be named, hopes something is done to punish 34-year-old Candice Milam.
"Extremely upset. Like my child had been violated by an adult," he said. "It was just a couple of kids in a squabble that should have never gone as far as it did. Thanks to this mother encouraging it and egging it on, it went that far and it went way too far."
He said the fight started over a boy and that his step-daughter punched Milam's daughter during school hours. But he said the fight was long over before Milam escalated the situation.
The January incident was caught on cell phone video and posted on Facebook moments later. Milam is seen wearing a grey hoodie and pushing her 12-year-old daughter to fight. She is heard telling her daughter to rip the girl's hair out and then jumps in and does it herself. Police said the girls did not want to fight, but Milam made it happen. Other adults had to break up the brawl.

The Department of Children and Families will fully investigate Milam, who has been charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and Battery.
Police said she also brought her 16-year-old son to the fight, and he faces charges stemming from the incident as well.
Local 6 tried several times to get Milam's side of story, but she would not comment.
