Commissioners rejected a plan to allow legal street racing to continue at an Orange County drag strip.
In a 7-0 vote Tuesday, commissioners put the brakes on plans that would allow the racing at Central Florida Racing Complex, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Racing advocates argued that the complex is a safe alternative to illegal racing on busy streets, but residents who live nearby complained about noise and feared of drunken driving.
Other types of events, including go-kart racing, will still be allowed.
