Police: Altamonte carjacking victim was meeting with suspects for drugs
Police say victim had arranged to meet with suspects, was carjacked
Altamonte Springs police have found that the victim of a carjacking at Cranes Roost on Monday morning was meeting the suspects to purchase drugs.
Garvey Bazile, 27, and a 16-year-old were arrested in the carjacking, which happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday near the Waterside at Cranes Roost apartments in Altamonte Springs.
While police were interviewing victim Ashley Curtis and her boyfriend, Trevor Johnson, they found that the carjacking wasn't a random act of violence and that there was a prior arrangement to meet.
"They just pistol-whipped me and stole my car," Curtis frantically told a 911 operator on Monday. "I have no (expletive) clue who they are."
Police said two men, later identified as Bazile and the teen, got out of one the cars, pointed a gun at Curtis and stole her Pontiac G-6 after hitting her on the head with the gun, according to police.
No charges are pending against Curtis or Johnson. Bazile and Wilson were charged with robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
