ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -

Ormond Beach police are  searching for the culprit who they say kidnapped a man in Boynton Beach and forced him to drive to Ormond Beach, threatening to shoot him.

The victim told police that he was stopped at an intersection in Boynton Beach when a man jumped into the backseat of his car and said "drive or I'll shoot you." The victim then drove on Interstate 95 for at least two hours before the man told the victim to pull over and open the trunk of the car, according to police.

The man was rummaging through the truck when the victim shoved the man away and drove away, leaving his kidnapper on the side of the road, according to a release. The victim stopped at a gas station on US 1 and I-95 and called police.

Police searched the area near the SR-40 interchange and  two elementary schools within a couple of miles of the interstate were notified of the search out of precaution.

The kidnapper is described as a white male with a scruffy appearance with a bushy brown beard and wearing a hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

The victim suffered a cut to his forehead but wasn't injured further.
