A man who police say admitted to peering at a naked woman through a bedroom window in Altamonte Springs was shot by man who caught him possibly committing a lewd act, according to authorities.
The shooting occurred late Monday night in an apartment complex on Orienta Drive in Altamonte Springs.
According to police, officers went to the apartments in reference to a shooting, and a woman told them she was in her bed when she heard a conversation outside in which a man said to someone, "What are you doing back here?" She said she then heard someone let out a small cry before a gunshot was fired, according to police.
She said she did not see anyone, and officers did not find any evidence of a shooting outside her window.
Police then received a phone call from Florida Hospital Altamonte about a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.
Officers interviewed the man, who initially said he was walking home from work when a man shot him during a robbery attempt, according to police.
During a second interview, however, Altamonte Springs police said the man changed his story and admitted that he was looking at a naked woman lying on a bed through a window. According to police, the man said he was urinating when another man walked up to him and asked him what he was doing.
The second man started punching the man who was looking into the window and shot him in the arm, police said.
The injured man ran to a friend's house and asked the friend to take him to a hospital, police said.
Several people told police they heard a gunshot but did not see anyone fleeing the area.
Police said they are looking for the shooter, but the shooting victim said he does not want to press charges.
No charges have been filed against the man looking into the window because no one saw him commit the crime, police said.
