Police: Man tried to lure girls into car

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

Daytona Beach police on Friday released a composite sketch of a man who they say tried to lure to girls into his car.

The incident occurred Sunday at 5 p.m. in the 400 block of University Boulevard in Daytona Beach.

According to police, the man was driving a red older model vehicle when he approached two girls, ages 12 and 14, who were walking.  The man then motioned for the girls to come closer, but they told him to leave, police said.

Police said the girls did not go near the vehicle, but the driver followed them for two blocks before driving past him and turning around.  As he headed back toward the girls, they ran to their friend's house and stayed for a minute before running to a fire station at University Boulevard and Halifax Drive, police said.

The girls were not injured.

The driver was described as a white man in his mid-30s with short brown hair.  His four-door vehicle has tinted windows, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police.
