Police: Trio stole $20K worth of cellphones from Palm Bay Verizon store
3 charged with burglary, police say
Police have arrested three people in a smash and grab robbery at a Verizon store, where police say 44 cellphones were stolen, worth $20,000.
Police said the trio,Raziel Periu, 21; Wilson Andre, 27;Brent Starnes, 20, have been charged with burglary, grand theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools, according to Palm Bay police.
Police said the store on Malabar Road was burglarized early Saturday morning, prompting officers to send patrols to other cellphone stores. Officers saw the trio in a car behind the Sprint store in the Hammock Landings
Officers saw in their car a blue mask, gloves and an axe, along with 44 cellphones from the Verizon Wireless.
"It looks like these individuals drove in from Orlando looking for cell phone businesses along the I-95 corridor,” said Detective Danielle Featherston in a release. “It appears they were after high-dollar cell phones to turn around and cell on Craigslist and other internet venues. We are working with other jurisdictions in the area to determine if this same group may be responsible for other crimes.”
