A man was taken into custody Friday morning at a home in Pacific Palisades after allegedly threatening family members, authorities said.
Officers responded to the 17000 block of Pacific Coast Highway (map) after receiving an initial report of a domestic-related threat, said Lt. Lonnie Tiano of the Los Angeles Police Department.
After being released from a "5150" psychiatric hold, the man had called his ex-wife and threatened to kill her, their children and himself, according to the LAPD.
The man barricaded himself inside the Pacific Palisades house at 1:30 a.m., police said. Officers then used tear gas to force him out.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
PCH, which had been closed between Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard during the standoff, was later reopened in both directions.
