Police: Woman throws paint on neighbor's car
Police investigate feud between DeLand neighbors
Neighbors near Howry Avenue in DeLand say they are fed up with the drama. The constant war among their fellow neighbors is getting heated, they tell Local 6.
Shelley Elebash said she has been at war with her next-door neighbor Shawn Walker and has been for months. Each one has called police on the other but it's still unclear what started the war.
The latest incident happened around 4:30 a.m. when blue paint was found splattered on Walker's two cars. Walker told police he suspected his neighbor, but Elebash denies she was involved and claims she saw Walker throw paint on the cars himself.
Local 6's Nicole Pesecky asked Elebash about the incident, in which police found paint on Elebash's counter that matched the paint on the cars.
"They found blue cupcake icing. It was cupcake icing," Elebash said Wednesday.
Two days before, Walker was charged with breaking Elebash' plant stand because he claimed it was on his property.
"I was standing right over there and he threw it straight at me," Elebash said.
She also said he cracked her front door after banging on forcefully and threatening her.
Local 6 stopped by Walker's home to get his side of the story. He was home but refused to come to the door.
Police say they have samples of the paint from the car and the icing found. They are testing those and say Elebash could be facing charges of criminal mischief if the samples match.
Walker has been charged with trespassing and criminal mischief but neither neighbor has ever been arrested. Police say no arrests have been made because there were no witnesses and it's his word against hers.
