Possible rain, high temps on holiday forecast

The Fourth of July is heating up--and it's not just from the fireworks.

Forecasts show that temperatures will be on the rise on Wednesday, making it a hot day for residents out and about celebrating the holiday.

"The big story is the heat," said Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges. "It's heating up to 94 today and it will feel like 100 to 105."

There is a chance for a few scattered storms through the afternoon on Wednesday, but rain chances tapering off to 20 percent by 9 p.m., which is fireworks time for most communities.

Temperatures will range from a low of 77 degrees to a high of 92 degrees.

"Heat and rain chances on and off continue into the weekend," Bridges said.

Some Panhandle counties across north Florida may also be at a heightened risk for wildfires, state officials said.
