Lake Mary crash

LAKE MARY, Fla. -

Progress Energy crews restored power to hundreds of homes and businesses in Lake Mary after a woman crashed her car into a utility pole.

The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Lake Mary Boulevard and Lake Emma Road.

Police say the woman was driving east on Lake Mary Boulevard and somehow lost control of her car when she ran off the road and crashed into the pole.

The force of the impact snapped the top part of the pole, which knocked out power to more than 1,600 homes and businesses in the area.

The driver was taken to South Seminole Hospital in Longwood.  Her condition is not known.

Police say it's not known if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
