Pregnant woman attacked in Sanford; 12 arrested
12-year-old boy, teens arrested in fight
A woman six-months pregnant was attacked late Sunday in Sanford in an ongoing neighborhood feud, leading to 12 arrests, deputies said.
A 12-year-old boy and several teens were among those arrested in the attack, which occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Daffodil Terrace.
The woman suffered a head injury in the fight, and her fiance and mother were also struck during the attack, Seminole County sheriff's deputies said.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the incident caused such a scene that several neighbors witnessed it. A sheriff's report says a blunt instrument was used in the attack.
The 911 caller stated that they saw a man waving a gun to prevent anyone from trying to help the pregnant woman.
"There was a gentlemen, standing there, with a gun, waving it saying if anybody jumped in he was gonna shoot," the woman said.
Along with the 12-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.
Deputies also arrested several adults, including Iareian Jiquel Kennedy, Harry Maurice Roberts, Lasheena Shawndrell Thomas, Antoinette Letitia Ford, Quentin Herring, Javaress Reshod Barnes, Arshala Lee Ford, and Jarvis Jamaal Young.
The pregnant woman, her fiance and mother were not seriously injured.
"I've never in my life witnessed anything like that, ever," a witness, who didn't want to be named, told Local 6.
Deputies said they believe the fight stemmed from some type of ongoing issue between neighbors.
