1,255 people in a Dutch city set a new world record for the largest gathering of natural redheads, Guinness World Records said.

The event in the city of Breda in the Netherlands beat the previous world record of 890 natural redheads gathered in Washington in 2010, DutchNews.nl reported.

Many more redheads turned out for the festival - about 4,000-5,000 total - but only 1,255 qualified as natural redheads under Guinness rules.

The gathering was part of an annual Dutch summer festival that takes place each first weekend of September in Breda. Activities during the two-day festival include lectures, workshops and demonstrations which are aimed specifically at red-haired people.
