SANFORD, Fla. -

Newly filed court records show George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, spent $36,000 in 18 days on phones, Internet, credit cards and bills, the Miami Herald reports.

Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, detailed his client's spending of the funds donated from the public to his previous website, TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com. O'Mara writes Zimmerman and his wife, Shellie, spent $6,500 on Internet and phone bills, including new cellphones and landlines.

They also paid off $7,000 in credit card bills and $4,378 on automotive expenses.
