ROCKLEGDE, Fla. -

Residents living on a historic road in Rockledge say they're willing to work with bikers and runners in order to keep everyone safe.

Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports nearly 200 people packed into the Rockledge Police Department on Wednesday arguing over Rockledge Drive.

Rockledge Police Chief Ron Krueger called the meeting because of complaints to police from resident.

People who live on the road said there are no sidewalks, so runners, bicyclists and cars have to share the road.

Rockledge Drive runs parallel to U.S. Highway 1 from the Merritt Island Causeway to Viera Boulevard.

The police chief said he will boost enforcement along Rockledge Drive to deal with the concerns.

Biking and running groups said they'll be meeting with people on Rockledge Drive in the coming weeks to find other solutions.
