SUV snaps power pole in Maitland crash, causes outage
Progress Energy crews restore power near Maitland Avenue
A sport utility vehicle struck a power pole in Maitland early Wednesday, snapping the pole and causing a power outage in the area.
A red Chevrolet Blazer crashed into the pole around 2 a.m. on Maitland Avenue near Faith Terrace, just north of Maitland Boulevard.
The driver fled from the scene on foot, said Florida Highway Patrol troopers, who later questioned the owner of the SUV. The owner of the Blazer said it was his son's vehicle.
Less than a dozen homes in the area were without power, but Progress Energy Crews later restored power.
Roads were blocked in the area for about three hours.
