LONDON -

A British Army soldier dressed as Santa Clause was left dangling inside a London mall after a costume malfunction.

It happened Saturday as Santa was making a grand entrance at the Broad Street Mall in England.

Steve Chessell repelled from the roof but ended up caught in mid-air by his beard. 

He dangled for more than 30 minutes before rescuers could cut his beard out of the rope.

Chessell eventually made it into the crowd.
