SANFORD, Fla. -

The Seminole County School Board on Tuesday decided to move ahead with a major rezoning plan.

The district wants to begin rezoning schools for the 2013-14 school year -- starting with elementary schools -- to balance overcrowded campuses with those that are under capacity.

Officials said it's likely that the same moves will be made in the future for middle and high schools.

Superintendent Walt Griffin said it's possible that some Seminole County schools will need to be closed as part of the process.
