Volusia County still "shark bite capital of world"

The brand new shark bite numbers are out for Florida and it's a case of good news and bad news.

According to Local 6 news partner Florida Today, shark bite numbers are down overall, but Volusia County maintains its status as the "Shark Bite Capital of the World."

Here's how the numbers break down from the University of Florida.

The number of shark attacks in Volusia held steady at six and all but one of the victims were surfing.

Five of them happened at New Smyrna Beach.

Five other attacks were reported in the rest of Florida.

The U.S. saw a total of 29 attacks, continuing a five-year downward trend.
