Shellie Zimmerman pleads not guilty to perjury charge

An attorney representing Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, has filed on Friday a written plea of not guilty, along with a waiver of personal appearance at her arraignment on perjury charges, according to the state attorney's office.

Shellie Zimmerman's documents were filed by Attorney Kelly B. Sims at 4:35 p.m. on Friday. Shellie Zimmerman's arraignment is set for Tuesday.

Shellie Zimmerman is charged with one count of perjury-lying under oath after Judge Kenneth Lester ruled that she lied about her and George Zimmerman's finances during a bond hearing. Shellie Zimmerman was arrested and charged June 12 and released the same day after posting bond.

George Zimmerman is charged with shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford on Feb. 26.George Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in Martin's shooting, claiming self-defense.

George Zimmerman was initially granted $150,000 bond and released. Lester revoked that bond last month after state attorneys argued that both George Zimmerman and his wife had lied about money raised from a website.

George Zimmerman has since been freed again on a new $1 million bond.
