CLERMONT, Fla. -

Four Lake County high school students were hospitalized Friday after becoming sickened by medication they were believed to be taking for recreational purposes, officials said.

The East Ridge High School students were taken to South Lake Hospital.  Their conditions were not known.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, a student gave over-the-counter cold medicine, believed to be Coricidin, to three classmates, and they all became ill.

The students were checked by emergency personnel before being taken to a hospital.
