WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. -

Five students sharing a snack at a south Brevard school ended up being treated by paramedics after getting residue from spicy chicken wings in their eyes.

Brevard County Fire-Rescue crews were called about 8 a.m. Tuesday to Imagine School in West Melbourne at 3355 Imagine Way after reports of students suffering eye problems as a result of possible exposure to hot peppers.

“They were eating some hot wings and five of them needed medical attention,” said Lt. Rich Cordeau of the West Melbourne Police Department.  “One of the students apparently brought them to school."

Paramedics arrived within minutes and treated the students, who were taken to the principal’s office. The paramedics flushed the students’ faces with water.

“They’re all back in class now,” said Principal Shannon Gerbi of Imagine.

The students’ parents were also notified about the medical treatment.
