URGENT - UNGA Obama Syria
(CNN) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said the conflict in Syria highlighted the challenges facing the international community. The international community must enforce the ban on use of chemical weapons, he said at the U.N. General Assembly. Obama said he had not threatened "lightly" force to enforce the ban, because it was in the interests of the United States and the world. The evidence is "overwhelming" that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons against civilians, he said.
