Ultralight plane makes emergency landing on golf course
Pilot lands near 6th hole at Viera East Golf Course
An ultralight aircraft made an emergency landing mid-day Tuesday at Viera East Golf Course.
Authorities said the plane had landed near the 6th hole after the pilot experienced apparent engine trouble after takeoff from the Rockledge Airpark at Barnes Boulevard and Murrell Road.
Mark Coleman lives near the golf course.
“He (the pilot) said he usually comes out over the golf course," said Coleman. "That way, if there are any problems, he’s got some place to land."
Coleman said the pilot, who was unidentified, was unharmed.
"He just brought it in easily," said Coleman.
The pilot called for assistance and several friends appeared to help recover the aircraft.
"They wheeled it out in the road and carted it back to the airport," said Coleman.
