Vintage rifles stolen in string of Volusia County burglaries
3 burglaries linked, police say
South Daytona Police is searching for the suspects in a string of commercial burglaries, one resulting in vintage rifles being stolen.
Police said five World War I rifles were stolen from a case at American Legion Post 361 in South Daytona early Tuesday morning. Police said burglars stole the cash register and several 1917 Military Surplus Infield 301 rifles.
The cash register was later found in a wooded area next to the business, police said.
On Jan. 17, a supply store and a thrift store were also burglarized. Police said the suspects smashed the glass out of a window to the businesses and stole the cash registers.
At the Vertical Church Thrift Store, on South Nova Road, the cash register was later found in an alley way outside the business, according to the police report. The cash register was not recovered from the North South Supply store on South Ridgewood Avenue.
Police believe the three robberies were linked. No information on the suspects was available.
