A Volusia County deputy was arrested on domestic battery charges after authorities say he got into a fight with his girlfriend and threatened to kill her.

Michael Sawicki, 24, was arrested by Sanford police after an altercation with his live-in girlfriend on Thursday morning. According to the arrest report, Sawicki got in the girlfriend's face and started to throw and break things in their Rachelle Avenue apartment.

A friend came to pick up the victim, when Sawicki spit in the victim's face and said, "If you call the police and I lose my job, I will hunt you down and kill you," according to the report.

Police arrived and arrested Sawicki under domestic battery charges. He has been with the VCSO since May 2009. Sawicki has been reassigned temporarily from his patrol duties to Communications Center pending the outcome of the investigation.
