Voters choose new Flagler Beach mayor, commissioner

Linda Provencher takes 58 percent of votes

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. -

Linda Provencher was named the new mayor of Flagler Beach Tuesday night in Florida's primary.

Provencher, an assistant manager at the Golden Lion restaurant, won about 58 percent of the vote over opponent J. NeJame, a former U.S. Marine Corps member and yacht broker.

Provencher served on the Flagler Beach City Commission from 2006 to 2010.

Meanwhile, Joy McGrew was named the new city commissioner with 52 percent of the votes over Sandra Mason, who took 48 percent.

McGrew, a wellness advisor for a health food company, had previously served on the City Commission until March 2011.
