SANFORD, Fla. -

Sanford police said burglars used a woman's cat door to burglarize her home, but they don't believe they crawled through it.

Beatrice Zigo said she came home and realized the hard plastic cover for her pet door, which prevents the cat from going in and out, was missing. She said she found it lying on the living room floor.

"I said, 'I know I didn't put this here.' I said, 'I'm not going crazy,'" said Zigo, who added that her TV and some money were stolen.

After that, she said she realized her cat was acting strangely.

"I got upset because my Cheeky, she was petrified," Zigo said.

Sanford police told her they believe someone pushed up the hard plastic cover, then reached through the plastic flap and unlocked the door.

Zigo still can't believe it happened.

"How they did it I don't know. They put their hand up there and unlocked the door," Zigo said. "I don't know how they can get away with this," she added.

Police said they pulled prints from the cat door flap and are waiting to find out if they have a match to anyone.
