Woman Tased, sprayed 7 times before arrest by Orlando police
Woman refused to be arrested, assaulted officer, police say
Orlando police say a woman kicked a cop while being arrested, forcing police to spray the woman with mace at least three times and shock her with a stun gun at least four times.
Police said Lakeisha Dowell, 29, stole a woman's headphones on Washington Street, prompting a fight between the two and threatened the woman with a razor blade. The woman wanted to press charges, but Dowell refused to obey officer orders.
According to the report, Dowell refused to be put under arrest saying, "you can spray me all you want but I'm not going to jail," and then kicked the officer. The officer sprayed Dowell with mace three times as she continued to try to punch him, tripped and fell and continued to walk away from the officer, according to the report.
The officer then shocked Dowell with a stun gun twice as Dowell broke the wires connecting the probes to the stun gun and walked away, picking up a piece of concrete and tried to throw it at the officer, police said.
Two more officers arrived at the scene to help place Dowell under arrest, according to police.
Dowell has been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting officer with violence with a weapon, robbery, battery, attempted battery and criminal mischief less than $200.
She was taken to Orange County Jail. Police have not released video of the incident.
