Woman drives into Melbourne pond

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -

An 86-year-old woman drove into a retention pond near the Ace Hardware store, Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports.

The incident occurred at 5970 N. Wickham Road at about 1:15 p.m.

Rescuers helped her get out of the water, and her car became almost entirely submerged. The woman was able to get out of the car herself and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
