A Daytona Beach woman faces a mandatory life sentence after she pleaded to first-degree murder charges for killing a woman over drugs.
As part of a deal to avoid the death penalty, 26-year-old Frances Renee Gibson pleaded to first-degree murder, robbery and kidnapping charges Tuesday.
Gibson told authorities she had been partying with 41-year-old Jennifer Rado at an Edgewater home in July 2001 when Gibson tried to forcibly take drugs from Rado. Gibson and another person bound Rado with tape and electrical wiring. Rado was killed the next morning.
Police say Gibson later confessed to the murder and took investigators to Rado's remains.
