ORLANDO, Fla. -

A woman tracked down and punched a man suspected of stealing another woman's purse on International Drive in Orlando, although he was able to get away.

The incident began Sunday on I-Drive near Texas de Brazil.

According to Orlando police, a woman screamed about someone stealing her purse, and another woman spotted a man running away.  The witness told her mother to follow the man in their car, and he was later seen kneeling behind a McDonald's going through a purse, police said.

The witness got out of her car and told the man to drop the bag, said police, who added that the man stood up.  The woman thought he was going to do something, so she punched him once in the face and he dropped the purse and ran off, police said.

The man got away with $25, but all the other items were returned to the victim, police said.

The man, who approached the victim from behind, was described only as wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
