A Gator twist expected at Saturday's opener

2 quarterbacks will start against Bowling Green, sources say

The Florida Gators are going to start both Quarterbacks tomorrow, Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore learned Friday night.

According to Pingalore's Florida Gators sources, Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel will be on the field the same time when the game starts against Bowling Green.

Pingalore can confirm that the game situation with both quarterbacks on the field the same time has been practiced this week. It is not clear which quarterback will be under center to start the game.

Pingalore was told that Driskel will be used primarily in run situations as he continues to nurse a sore non-throwing shoulder injury.

Last week head coach Will Muschamp said that he plans to use both quarterbacks instead of picking just one as the primary starter.

Pingalore learned that Muschamp will name a starter for the rest of the season by the Tennessee game September 15 and that the full time starter will be Driskel.

According to Pingalore's sources, Driskel looks sharper in practice than Brissett.

It is expected that Muschamp will use both QB's next week in the SEC opener at Texas A&M, then make the call.

It was reiterated to Pingalore that former Gator head coach Steve Spurrier, now with South Carolina, always said, "If you have two starting quarterbacks, you don't have one."
