A1A reopens in Volusia County after firework found in road, police say

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES - Authorities have reopened A1A in Daytona Beach Shores after the "explosive device" was deemed a firework.

According to Daytona Beach fire officials, 911 dispatch received the first call of the device, which apparently looked like a hand grenade, shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The device was found on the 2100 block of South Atlantic Avenue, police said. A1A was reopened just after 10:30 a.m.
