Absconded sexual predator turns himself in

Deputies say Jeffrey Bailey cut off his GPS ankle monitor

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A convicted sexual predator who allegedly cut off his GPS ankle monitor last week turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday, officials said.

Osceola County deputies said Jeffrey Bailey cut off his GPS ankle monitor Friday in the area of Old Tampa Highway in Kissimmee.  After asking for the public's help in locating Bailey, he turned himself in to the state probation office on John Young Parkway, officials said.

Bailey's whereabouts for the past several days are unknown, and an investigation is ongoing.

Bailey was convicted in March 2002 of a lewd and lascivious act on a child under the age of 16, and first registered as a sexual predator on Sept. 21, 2010.

Since his release from prison in 2010, deputies said Bailey has been on state probation.

Detectives obtained a warrant for failing to report residence change and failing to report vacating permanent residence, authorities said.
