AC issues plague Oviedo school

Problem caused by lightning strike, officials say

OVIEDO, Fla. - Students at an Oviedo middle school are shifting classrooms because of faulty air conditioning after a lightning strike.

Seminole County Public Schools spokesman Michael Lawrence told Local 6 that some rooms at Lawton Chiles Middle School don't have optimum AC because of a lightning strike last week.

Lawrence said crews were scheduled to work on the AC system on Monday.

Students were being placed in other classrooms until the AC is running at normal levels.

The high temperature will be in the mid-90s, with a heat index over 100 degrees.

Seminole County returned to school last Monday.
