Apopka Blue Darters defeat Freedom Patriots 49-0

Blue Darters host Freedom Patriots in ClickOrlando.com High School Game of the Week

APOPKA, Fla. – This week's ClickOrlando.com High School Game of the Week was picked to be the Apopka Blue Darters hosting the Freedom Patriots.

Apopka came out firing on cylinders. In the 1st quarter, Blue Darter running back Robert Thomas took a counter 70 yards to pay dirt and after the extra point was made, Apopka led 7-0.

Still in the 1st quarter, Apopka's Robert Thomas finds the end zone again from 6 yards out. The Blue Darters tried some trickery by going for the 2 point conversation, but were denied by the Patriot defense.

Freedom was unable to score in the first quarter, but they were finding luck with their passing game in the 2nd.

After converting on 2 straight passes, quarterback Jimmy Kealy connected with his wide receiver Jonathan Boone for 30 yard pass-and-catch, but the Patriot offense was once again denied by Apopka.

Apopka would add a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Chandler Cox, who replaced Nebraska-bound quarterback Zack Darlington after he suffered a severe concussion that put him out indefinitely.

Freedom kept trying the passing game, but would continue to come up empty. Linebacker Isaiah Buehler intercepted Kealy's pass and took it back to the house.

Apopka would continue to score, beating Freedom 49-0.

Make sure you vote for next week's ClickOrlando.com High School Game of the Week. Voting ends at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
