Apopka seeking volunteers to build playground designed by local kids

City held a 'Design Day' to get ideas from children

APOPKA, Fla. – The city of Apopka is working to give local children the playground of their dreams.

KaBOOM!, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing active play into the daily lives of children, stepped in to create a design for a new playground along Lake Avenue in Apopka.

The organization didn't come up with the design on their own, however. They had a little help from the kids in the community.

Several local children attended a "Design Day" on January 24 to come up with ideas for their dream playground.

From the drawings, KaBOOM! was able to come up with a playground they believed would make the kid's dreams come true.

Now, the city of Apopka is seeking volunteers to build the playground and help make the kids' dreams a reality.

The build is scheduled to take place on April 8 and is expected to take about six hours. The city is seeking 200 volunteers to help get the project done.

If you would like to register to be a builder you can sign up by filling out the registration form on the KaBOOM! website
