Attacker slices Orlando attorney's face

Matthew Leibert taken to hospital after his face was cut

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando attorney was attacked and his face was sliced open after he discovered a man inside his Jeep outside his Thornton Park home, according to Orlando police.

Matthew Anthony Leibert was attacked late Saturday in the 1400 block of Ridgewood Street.

According to Orlando police, Leibert and his girlfriend were walking to his Jeep around 8 p.m. when he found a man sitting in the driver's seat.

Leibert said he told the man twice to get out of his vehicle, and when he did, he kicked Leibert in the leg, according to police.  Leibert said he kicked the man back, but was then struck in the left jaw with an unknown object, possibly a screwdriver, according to police.

Orlando police said Leibert had a laceration nearly the length of his jaw.

The assailant ran off after the attack.

Police said blood was found in Leibert's Jeep, which had been tampered with.

Leibert's girlfriend was not injured but was emotionally shaken from the incident, police said.  She drove Leibert to a hospital for treatment.

The culprit was described as a black man about 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140 pounds.  He has short hair and was wearing dark shorts and possibly a yellow shirt.

No arrests have been made.
